Awareness programme on Nipah Virus

Vincentian Service Society Organized an awareness programme on Nipah Virus for the parents of CHAI-LF Project on 25/5/2018 at VSS Seminar Hall. The programme began at 10:30am with a prayer song. Fr.Varghese Perinchery welcomed all the participants he also said that Nipah Virus is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes a severe disease in both animals and humans.Mr.Jisto Johnson, Micro –Biologist led the class. He explained about the Latest facts on Nipha Virus including symptoms and Checks. There were 12 Parents actively participated for the programme.The programme ended at 12:00 am with Tea and snacks


Snehateeram Candle Making Unit

The Livelihood programme aims to develop life skills of communities and empower them in overcoming social, economic and environmental challenges. As a part of sustainability and to improve economic condition, Snehateeram DPO (Disabled People’s Organization) under Vincentian Service Society has started Candle making unit at Ottamassery on 20th March 2018. This unit was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC, Executive Secretary of VSS. This centre will provide opportunities for self-sufficiency and improvement in their living conditions of DPO Members in their area.


Awareness Seminar on Cancer -2018

Vincentian Service Society Organized a Cancer Awareness Seminar on 2nd March 2018, at Snehakoodu (Pakalveedu for Senior Citizens), Nazareth Nagar, Angamaly. The programme began at 10:00 am with a registration. The seminar was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC, Exicutive Secretary of Vincentian Service Society. Dr. Abhijith Das Medical Surgeon at Angamaly Thaluk Hospital led the class for public and he clearly explained about cancer, its types, how it affects the human body, etc. The one-hour class gave the clear picture about cancer and its safety measures. He has said that the new standard of living and food habits produce a good number of cancer patients in Kerala. This disease affects both male and female without any discrimination. The new healthy habits may help to lessen cancer from the society. The early detection and appropriate medication will help to alleviate the disease and affected people can reverse to normal life without any obscurity. There was also an interaction session followed by the class. It gave extensive range of opportunities to the public to inquire their uncertainties and clear their doubts in the field of Cancer. There were 40 people actively participated for the seminar. Mr. Libin programme officer of VSS gave a vote of thanks at the end of the empowering session. The programme ended at 12 pm with refreshment.


Youth Parliament Inauguration and One day Seminar for the Youth

Vincentian Service Society in association with NYKS (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan) Ernakulam and DiST NSS unit (De Paul Institute of Science and Technology) Angamaly organized Youth Parliament and one day Seminar for the Youth at DiST campus on 19th February 2018. The objectives of this programme was to provide a platform for the youth in a particular area to come together, meet, discuss and plan activities for their own improvement as well as that of the society. The programme began at 10:00 am with a registration.


BLOOD DONATION CAMP-2017

Blood is a base of every human life and there is no life without blood. Blood donation should be a moral responsibility of every citizen as every drop of blood donated goes in saving the life of other brethren. Vincentian Service Society Centre for Rural Development has launched a venture few years ago that is Blood Donors Club. Every year we used to conduct a blood donation camp in order to increase the volunteer member in the club. This year we organized blood donation camp on 26th October 2017 at DiST Annex Auditorium in collaboration with DiST, HDFC Bank and Lourdes Hospital, Ernakulam. The programme began at 10:00 am with an inauguration by Rev. Fr. George Pottayil VC, Director of Dist.He has inspired all the participants saying that ‘’Blood donation is one of the most significant contribution that a person can make towards the Society’’. Dr.Unni C.J., Principal of DiST and Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC, Exicutive Secretary of VSS felicitated in the meeting. There were students from various departments actively participated for this programme.There was also an awareness session on Importance of Blood donation by Dr.Soosan P.C., Medical Officer of Lourdes Hospital. There were 35 student voluntarily donated blood. The programme ended at 1:00pm.


Ponnonapulary-2017

Vincentian Service Society Organized Onam Celebration for the DEFOSCAA (De Paul Fellowship of Senior Citizen At Angamaly) members on 1st September 2017 at De Paul College Auditorium. The name of the Onam Celebration was Ponnonapulary.The programme began at 9:00 am with registration then followed by Holy Eucharist at Ashram Chapel .Meanwhile V.S.S Youth Members prepared an Onapookalam in front of the Auditorium.DEFOSCAA Members gathered at the auditorium soon after the Mass.V.S.S staff along with V.S.S Youth divided the members into 5 groups in order to conduct competitions. There were 4 competitions were conducted. Couple of competitions were conducted on aria wise namely Malayali Manga/Mannan and Onappattu.Supplementary two other competitions were conducted on GroupWise namely Spinning the Ball and Magic Roap.A Scrumptious Onam Sadhya was for all soon after the competitions. The formal function began at 2:30 pm with a prayer song by Mejo and Party.Rev.Fr.Francis Naduvilaedath V.C, Social Work Counsellor of Mary Matha Province,Angamaly delivered welcome speech and welcomed all into the programme.Mr.P.T. Paul, Block Panchayath President,Angamaly inaugurated the programme.Very.Rev.Fr. James Kallumkal V.C, Provincial Superior of Mary Matha Province, Angamaly presided over the function. Rev.Fr.Shinu Uduppan,Director of Subodhana and Rev.Fr.Paul Kottakkal,Parish Priest of St.Reetha’s Church,Angamaly felicitated in the meeting.Kumari Amala Martin sang a beautiful song during the programme.Maveli reached in the auditorium with Vamanan.All have welcomed them with loud applauds.Maveli greeted the audience and gave his blessings. The prizes were distributed to the winner’s of the competitions during the programme. Green,Blue and Yellow won the 1st,2nd and 3rd prize respectively. DEFOSCAA Christmas Celebration - nammukku bethelehemilekku pokam

De Paul Fellowship of Senior Citizens At Angamaly (DEFOSCAA) celebrated Christmas at De Paul College Auditorium. The programme began with registration. There were 1 30 club members participated in the programme. Rev. Fr. Jimmy Celebrated the Holy Mass. Meanwhile, VSS Youth Club members prepared crib and Christmas tree in front of the Auditorium. Soon after the Mass, youth club members divided the DEFOSCAA members into 5 groups to conduct competitions. There were carol song and tabblow conducted for them. Reetha and team, Jessy Paul and team, Annakutty and team scored 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes respectively. After a small break, the official programme started at 10.30 am with a prayer song by Ms Merlin. Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC welcomed all into the programme. Rev. Fr. Francis Naduvilaedath VC, Assistant Provincial Marymatha province of Vincentian congregation and Director of VSS presided over the function. He has given a warm Christmas message to all and he wished the crowd a merry Christmas. This was followed by a rather entertaining group song, sang by the VSS Youth Club Members. Mr. Anest Block Deveopment Officer Angamaly inaugurated the programme. He gave an inspiring Christmas message which reminded us of the love and peace bought to earth by Jesus Christ. This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony, members of VSS youth club distribute the cake. Soon after Santa Claus was given a rousing welcomes by the audience. Santa gave his blessing to all. Mrs. Reetha and Majo sang the Carol songs during the programme. Rev. Fr. Varghese Menachery VC, Superior Vincentian Ashram Angamaly, Mr. Saji Varghese, Ward Counsellor and Mrs. Kochuthressia , member of DEFOSCAA felicitated in the meeting. A surprise Christmas gift has given to all DEFOSCAA members during the meeting. The prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions during the programme. Reetha and team, Jessy Paul and team, Annakutty and team scored 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes respectively. Ms Nimisha Johnson, Accountant of VSS expressed the vote of thanks and Mrs Joma K Jose, programme officer VSS anchored in the meeting. After the meeting, a delicious Christmas lunch arranged for all. Along with the VSS staff, VSS Youth Club members supported to make the event more colourful.


Geriatric Day Celebration

DEFOSCAA celebrated the geriatric day at media room, De Paul English Medium School Angamaly. The programme began at 9.30 am followed by registration and tea. The inaugural session was started with a prayer song. Mr Dalin Dias welcomed all into the programme. Rev. Fr. James Kokandathil VC, Finance councillor Marymatha province inaugurated the programme in the presence of Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC, executive secretary VSS. The meeting has honoured Smt. Annamkutty Devassy Arackal, the senior most member of DEFOSCAA. Smt. Latha Joseph, administrator of Alzheimer's society, Cochin region led the session for all. She has dealt with memory, different type memory loss, its cause, care for the dementia patients at home. Her informative session helped all to know about the precautions when they deal with those people. Soon after the class, all moved to the church for the Holy Mass. Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery celebrated the Eucharist for them. The Club members have disguised about the tour. The programme ended with lunch.


Inauguration of Arts and Craft Training Programme

Vincentian Service Society in collaboration with Govt. Women Polytechnic College Kalamassery has arranged Arts and Crafts Training programme at VSS Campus for women. The inaugural session was started with a prayer song and Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery welcomed all into the programme. He has narrated the purpose of the training programme for women. Rev. Fr. Francis Naduviledath VC, Director of VSS has inaugurated the programme and appreciated all for their interest to come forward to attend the training programme. Smt. Radhika, instructor of Arts and Crafts programme narrated about various craft items such as glass painting, metal engraving, metal embossing, doll making, pot painting, newspaper tray, beds work, sand work etc would be taught through the training. The official function has ended with vote of thanks by Dalin Dias. There would be 25 women trained in the 3 months programme.


Prize Coupon Releasing for Fund Mobilization

Vincentian Service Society as part of their social commitment and embracing the celebration of extraordinary jubilee year of Mercy planned to conduct charitable works through house construction for homeless, medical, educational assistance and other charity works in the name of Jesus Christ by the inspiration of their patron St. Vincent De Paul. To implement those activities, we needed to collect a huge amount of money and was proposed to collect through prize coupons distributed to well-wishers. The official releasing event of prize coupon was held on 20th July 2016 at De Paul English Medium School, Angamaly during the school assembly. Rev. Fr. Raphael Vezhaparambil VC, Principal of De Paul Eng. M. School welcomed all into the programme. Rev. Fr. Varghese Perinchery VC the Executive Secretary of VSS has introduced about VSS and its various activities especially the year of mercy activities. Rev. Fr. Alex Chalangady VC, Councilor of Media and Education has released the coupon and strength and handed over to Rev. Fr. Francis Naduviledath VC, Assistant Provincial Superior of Marymatha Province. The school leader bought the first book from Rev. Fr. Francis. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Dalin Dias, project manager of VSS.
